On July 21, The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Treasury Secretary Besant recently privately explained to Trump the reasons why he believed Powell should not be attempted to be removed. On Sunday, Trump responded in a post on his Truth Social platform, stating that he did not need Besant to explain to him that firing Powell would be detrimental to the markets. Trump wrote, "The Wall Street Journal published a typical false report today stating that Besant explained to me that firing the worst Fed chair in history, 'Mr. Too Late' Powell, would be detrimental to the markets. I don't need anyone to explain this to me. I know better than anyone what is good for the markets and what is good for America.
