UK Chancellor: Improving UK-EU relations "is imperative" under trade war.

Jin10 Data, April 9th - Ahead of a significant summit next month, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Reeves stated that Trump's global trade war has made it more "urgent" for the UK to improve trade relations with the EU post-Brexit. Reeves is pushing for an ambitious economic agenda in the EU-UK "relaunch" negotiations, despite the government continuing to rule out any moves to rejoin the EU customs union. Reeves also mentioned that the UK can leverage the chaos triggered by the US president to position itself as a "stable place" to attract investment. He expressed that the UK hopes to improve trade with "European partners," adding that "since Brexit, it has become more difficult for UK companies to export across Europe, especially for small businesses. Many feel shut out of the European market." He said that the UK-EU summit on May 19th will be an opportunity to "refresh our relationship and make it easier for businesses to trade."
