El Salvador's cryptocurrency remittance inflows plummeted by 45% in the first quarter.

According to the Central Bank of El Salvador, the amount of remittances from the country's cryptocurrency channels in the first quarter of 2025 fell by 45% compared to the same period last year, according to Bitcoin News. Specifically, remittances through crypto channels totaled $16 million in the first four months of 2025, down sharply from $28.83 million in the same period last year. The data also shows that cryptocurrency remittances account for less than 1% of all foreign exchange remittances in the country.
