Details regarding short-term goals have started to emerge following the leadership change that took place at the Ethereum Foundation in recent weeks.

Tomasz Stanczak, co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, stated that they are largely focused on short-term goals in their research efforts, aiming to solve fundamental problems such as user experience and scalability with two updates that will be implemented in the near future.

Stanczak stated that they are focusing on three topics along with the Pectra, Fusaka, and Glamsterdam updates: Layer 1 scalability, increasing support for Layer 2 scaling solutions and improving user experience and interoperability.

Buterin is interested in research studies.

On the other hand, Stanczak noted that they have implemented regulations that will allow Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin to dedicate more of his time to research work rather than daily coordination or crisis management. Stanczak stated, "Whenever Vitalik shares his vision and sets direction, he opens the door to long-term breakthroughs." He added that Buterin's recent contributions on RISC-V and zkVMs have facilitated the development of promising pathways.
