Pi Network (PI) Important Signal: The last stop for launching the Mainnet migration, urging the completion of 2FA to brew a "migration wave".

As Pi Network (PI) continues its transition to an open Mainnet, the Pi Core Team (PCT) has issued an important reminder to all pioneers (Pi community users), urging them to complete the third step of the Mainnet checklist - Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), to ensure Wallet security and complete the migration. This step is crucial for ensuring that Pi coins are transferred to legitimate Wallet owners, as well as the security, accuracy, and irreversibility of the migration process.

The announcement released by Dr. Chengdiao Fan, co-founder of Pi Network, emphasizes the urgency of completing dual identity verification and provides guidance for users who may have forgotten their Wallet password. Millions of users have already completed the migration, and more users are queued for the next wave of migration; therefore, this final step is a prerequisite for accessing the Pi Mainnet.

Today (28) in the Asian morning session, Pi coin rose in the short term, currently reported at 0.4645 USD.

Why 2FA is Crucial for Mainnet Migration

2FA adds an extra layer of security to the Pi Wallet by verifying ownership through a trusted email address. This process ensures that only verified users can confirm their wallets and receive the migrated Pi. According to the official Pi Network blog, the two-factor authentication feature will be launched in March 2025, aimed at protecting users during the migration process.

If 2FA is not completed, the user's migrated Pi may be returned to the mining application during the 14-day pending period. This rollback mechanism is designed to prevent unauthorized transfers and maintain the integrity of the blockchain.

Step-by-Step Guide to Completing 2FA

For users who have already confirmed their Wallet but have not yet completed 2FA, the process is simple:

  1. Open the Pi Network application and navigate to the Mainnet list.

  2. Verify your trusted email address. If you have not added one yet, please complete the activity check to confirm ownership.

  3. Receive the verification email from the Pi core team and confirm your Wallet according to the instructions.

  4. If you forgot your password, please reset it in the Pi app and repeat step 3.

  5. After all steps are completed, wait for the migration to begin.

Users are advised to only use their own accessible email addresses. Providing random or inaccessible email addresses will result in verification failures and migration delays.

What happens if you miss 2FA?

If 2FA is not completed within the 14-day pending period after the migration has been initiated, the Pi coin will be returned to the mining application. This rollback is not a permanent operation – users can restart the migration after completing the two-factor authentication. However, the delay may affect the availability of the tokens and the timing of participation in ecosystem activities.

According to the Pi Network roadmap, users who complete 2FA before the rollback will not receive token refunds. Users who complete 2FA afterward will rejoin the migration queue and receive the same or slightly more Pi coins (due to increased mining sessions).

Migration Progress and Community Response

As of July 2025, Pi Network has successfully migrated over 12 million users to the Mainnet. The second wave of migration was launched in late June, including referral rewards, lock-up rewards, and new verified users. Community members received prompts to complete 2FA and confirm their Wallets, and many shared their Pi usernames and migration balances to celebrate the successful migration.

However, some users have encountered issues with email verification, password reset, and Wallet synchronization. The Pi core team has acknowledged these issues and is rolling out backend fixes and application updates to improve the process.

Security and Compliance

The introduction of 2FA aligns with Pi Network's broader commitment to security and compliance. By requiring identity verification and email confirmation, the platform reduces the risks of fraud, phishing, and unauthorized access. This is particularly important given the non-custodial nature of the Pi Wallet, as users are responsible for securing their passwords and credentials.

To address concerns about wallet theft, community leaders have proposed additional security measures, such as biometric verification and multi-factor authentication. As the Pi Network continues to enhance its infrastructure, these suggestions are under review.

Get Ready for the Next Wave of Immigration

The next wave of migration is expected to see millions of tokens ending their lock-up period, making it more important than ever to complete the dual verification (2FA). Users who have not yet completed the Mainnet checklist should do so immediately to avoid delays and ensure full access to their Pi assets.

Key steps include:

  1. Update the Pi application to the latest version

  2. Verify KYC status and email address

  3. Reset the Wallet password if necessary.

  4. Complete 2FA and confirm Wallet ownership.

  5. After completing these steps, users will be eligible for migration and will be able to monitor their status within the application.

Conclusion: Keep your Wallet, Secure your Future

The migration of Pi Network to the open Mainnet marks an important milestone in its journey towards decentralized finance and global applications. By completing 2FA, users can not only protect their assets but also contribute to the integrity and scalability of the network.
