Texas seizes $2.8 million in encryption cryptocurrency from ransomware suspects, significant effectiveness of U.S. crackdown on cybercrime.

According to reports, Texas authorities in the United States announced the seizure of $2.8 million in encryption, $70,000 in cash, and a luxury car from the suspected ransomware operator Ianis Antropenko. Antropenko is accused of using Zeppelin ransomware to attack global targets.

Data shows that in 2024, the losses from encryption-related crimes in the United States reached $9.3 billion, an increase of 66% year-on-year. The Department of Justice's Cyber Crime Division stated that it has recovered a total of $350 million in victim funds and prevented more than $200 million in potential ransom payments.
