Upside: The social prediction innovator on Base
Upside: The New Star of Social Prediction on Base
Upside is an emerging social prediction platform built on the Base blockchain network. The core idea of the platform is to predict and compete around the trends of social content dissemination. Users can upload links to content that they believe has viral potential, and the platform will create a dedicated market for that link. Other users can participate in the prediction by purchasing "votes" to determine whether this content will gain widespread dissemination.
To participate in the prediction, you need to use the USDC stablecoin to purchase "tickets", with an initial price of $0.01. A maximum of 1 million tickets can be issued for each market, and the ticket price will be dynamically adjusted based on the purchase volume. Users can choose to hold the tickets and wait for appreciation or sell them midway to gain profits. All transactions will be recorded on the blockchain, ensuring the entire process is open, transparent, and traceable.
Upside has adopted a "unique link market" system, meaning that the same content can only create a market once. This mechanism effectively incentivizes users to promptly discover and share high-quality content. The platform has also established a "prediction pool" reward mechanism, where markets that perform well in each round will receive rewards, which will be distributed proportionally to link uploaders, original content creators, and voting participants, issued in the form of USDC.
Compared to traditional prediction markets, Upside's uniqueness lies in its focus on the subjective trend judgment of content popularity, rather than objective outcomes. This design aligns more closely with users' habits and judgment logic in the social media environment. Users are not predicting "whether a certain event will happen," but rather judging "which content might go viral."
The platform has designed diverse earning pathways, covering multiple roles such as content discoverers, voters, traders, invitees, and original creators. For example, users who upload popular links can earn 5% of the prediction pool as a reward, users holding votes can share 80% of the rewards, and original content creators can earn 15% of the rewards. It is worth noting that the same content can continue to win in multiple prediction rounds, giving relevant participants the opportunity to earn continuous profits.
To prevent market manipulation, Upside has implemented several measures, including on-chain records, minimum capital thresholds, and a five-minute settlement delay. All functions operate on the Base network, ensuring low transaction costs and high processing efficiency. The user participation threshold is low; users can create or join a market simply by pasting a link. Currently, the supported content mainly comes from the X platform, with potential expansion to more social platforms in the future.
Upside will officially launch on June 10, 2025, and is currently in the invitation code registration phase, with a limited user base primarily concentrated in the crypto community. It has been reported that the project completed a $1.2 million seed pre-round financing in December 2024, with a valuation reaching $10 million. However, specific details regarding investors, equity structure, and agreement details have not been disclosed.
From the current functionality, Upside already has the core mechanisms for market creation, trading, pricing, and incentive distribution. In the future, there may be further development of community features such as leaderboards and historical records. Overall, this project is still in its early stages, and its mechanisms and functions are continuously being iterated and improved.
